Celebration and fair of St. Rocco

St. Rocco week August 12-16

Every year, in August, from 12 to 16 it is renewed the tradition of the cult of St. Rocco. The devotion is so deep that every year the village is reached by thousands of people which come from all over the region to obtain the benediction of the saint and to benefit from the thaumaturgic powers of the source dedicated to him. The celebration continues for many days and the village becomes a place crawling with people, voices, sounds, fireworks and smells, like those of the "arrosticini" (typical sticks of sheep's meat) or of the pork, sold along the main road.

The sanctuary, the cave and the fountain dedicated to St. Rocco, as well as the several stalls along Via Roma, are literally assaulted to buy also the typical mug in ceramic with the effigy of the saint.

Such popular devotion is demonstrated by the ex voto inside the sanctuary, namely testimonies of the gratitude of thousands of pilgrims, which flow to the sanctuary also on foot, to assist to the several messes (one a hour till midnight). On August 16, at 7:30 pm it takes place the solemn procession with the traditional parade of the devotional bowls carried on by the girls of the village, dressed in traditional costumes.
